Basic Care

Holland Lop rabbits can be good pets for families with children, but they need daily adult supervision and shouldn't be left alone for more than 24 hours. They are social animals that require as much interaction and maintenance as dogs, and here are some things you can consider when caring for them

  • Cage: Provide a roomy space. Our buns are in a 14 sqft hutch with multiply levels. Buns need plenty of room to play and stretch out.
  • Bedding: Soft straw is a good option for warmth and comfort, especially for outdoor rabbits.
  • Litter box: Rabbits can be litter trained, and most prefer to use one spot.
  • Food and water: Provide a mix of Timothy hay, pellets and an occasional treat is okay. Our buns are on a water system using automatic water nipple feeders.
  • Toys: Natural woods and cardboard.
  • Grooming: Buns need to be brushed weekly and their nails trimed once a month. Pleanty of chewing toys and hay to help file their teeth.
